Poker Mistakes

Poker players must think logically and rationally. They must not allow emotions to enter into their playing decisions. This means that they should play based on odds and probabilities, not hope. The most common mistake the poker and UK bingo player makes is not folding when he should. They stay in the game and contribute to the pot when they should have folded at the Flop.

The rounds of betting add up to cost a lot of money. The UK casino player should not stay in the hand based on thinking “well I might draw a pair if I stay.” This isn’t the kind of thinking that wins poker hands. The biggest error in poker is not folding when you should for whatever reason. The free bingo player gets himself trapped in a hand and keeps contributing, hoping he’ll draw the one card. Hope isn’t the same as probability. The player should be thinking in terms of probabilities not hope.

What is the probability obtaining the pair on the Turn? By the time of the turn, if there are four players each with three cards then there are fifteen cards out and thirty-seven cards remaining in the deck. Suppose the player has a king. There is one king showing on board. There are two kings remaining in the deck. What is the probability of drawing a king?  It is 2/37 or 5.4%. This is playing based on probability and odds and this is the way the player should be thinking. Should he fold?
